Personal accounts
- Sign in to Truist online banking on a computer and open the account.
- Look for a download option with the account's transactions. Choose QFX or OFX if it's offered, otherwise CSV, and the dates since your last import.
- No download for this account? Save a statement as a PDF, or photograph a paper one, and let the assistant read it.
Business cards in Truist eZBusiness
Commercial and business card programs are managed in Truist eZBusiness, which has its own download:
- Find the transactions. Search for the transactions you want; you can filter by transaction date and amount.
- Click the download icon. It's in the Transaction Details section.
- Pick a format and save. Choose the format and save the file to your computer.
eZBusiness offers Excel/Spreadsheet (.csv), Excel, tab-delimited text, Quicken (QFX) and QuickBooks (QBO).
- Take QFX. Amounts have the standard signs, and each transaction carries an ID from the bank, so a file that overlaps your last one adds nothing twice.
- The .csv can work too, if its columns fit (see below). An Excel workbook doesn't open in the file import, but the assistant reads it.
- Skip QBO. It's made for QuickBooks, and UrBudget doesn't open .qbo files.
Bring it into UrBudget
A QFX file needs no settings. For a CSV, set Dates in the file to the order it uses; an Excel workbook goes to the assistant instead. Then choose Import file on your Truist account and check the preview; the import guide has every step, and what the assistant sends to your AI provider when it reads a statement.
If something looks wrong
- Purchases show up as money coming in. The CSV writes them as positive amounts. Tick Purchases are positive (UrBudget 1.0.3 and later) and preview again, or import the QFX file instead.
- You downloaded an Excel workbook. The file import reads CSV, OFX, QFX and QIF only. Attach the workbook to the assistant instead.
Budget with your Truist file
Free for 30 days on Windows and macOS, then $9 once. UrBudget reads the files you download and never connects to your bank.
