Free budgeting tools
Calculators and a spreadsheet for the questions a budget runs into. They're free with no sign-up, and the calculators run in your browser: nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Loan payoff calculator When your loan will be paid off, what it costs in interest, and what an extra payment each month saves. Or the payment that clears it by a month you pick.
- Car loan payoff calculator When your auto loan is paid off, and what a little extra each month or a one-time tax refund toward it saves in interest.
- Credit card payoff calculator How long a card balance takes to pay off at a fixed payment, and why paying only the minimum on $5,000 can take 15 years.
- Debt payoff calculator Snowball or avalanche: which debt to pay first, when you're debt-free, and what each method costs in interest.
- OFX and QFX to CSV converter Turn a bank's OFX, QFX or QBO download into a CSV file for Excel, Google Sheets or any app that takes CSV. Read in your browser, never uploaded.
- Envelope budget template A spreadsheet for Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers: categories with Assigned, Spent and Available, fed by a Transactions sheet.
How the calculators work
Both payoff calculators use the same math as the loan planner in UrBudget: each month, interest is the balance times the annual rate divided by 12, rounded to the cent, and then the payment comes off. They show the payoff month, the total interest and a month-by-month schedule, and with an extra payment, how much sooner you're done and what it saves. Each page explains the method with a worked example you can check by hand.
